Alcohol Focus Scotland - Drink Diary Alcohol Focus Scotland asked Drinkaware to pay for a reprint of its very successful drink diary resource which helps people monitor the amount that they are drinking. This in turn helps them and their health advisers to decide if they are at risk of long term health harms, and provides advice on how to cut down to safer levels. Ten thousand copies are being printed which is a two year supply for the charity. British Liver Trust – Alcohol and Liver Disease Publication This booklet aims to signpost the route to safer drinking by describing exactly how the excessive consumption of alcohol affects the liver. It provides information on units and how much an individual can safely drink and describes the symptoms from which people can suffer if they overstep these boundaries and their livers start to malfunction as a result. Here Drinkaware’s grant contributed to the printing of an updated version of the resource. Holbeton Primary School – Healthy Schools (Drinkaware Unit) Here Drinkaware awarded a small sum towards the alcohol component of Holbeton School’s healthy lifestyles work. Entitled the Drinkaware Unit, the work comprised a doctor visiting the school as a guest speaker to run a workshop on the dangers of irresponsible drinking and lead them in the creation of a display. Drinkaware’s grant funded this visit and paid for the materials for the display, a resource with which pupils will be able to engage in the long-term both during and outside lessons. |
