Drinkaware Trust announces new Chair and Trustees Print

The Drinkaware Trust, the UK’s leading responsible drinking charity and consumer champion, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Chairman, Derek Lewis.

The trust also welcomes to its board its first two lay Trustees, (i.e. trustees with no professional ties to the alcohol industry), Dominic Fry and Jason Stockwood.

Derek Lewis is Chairman of Protocol Associates, a leading provider of education and training services.  He is also a Pro-Chancellor of the University of Essex and a trustee of WRVS.  He has previously had extensive senior management experience in both the public and private sectors.

Dominic Fry is a consultant with Tulchan, one of the UK’s leading financial public relations consultancies. He was previously Group Communications Director of ScottishPower plc and before that, of J Sainsbury plc.

Jason Stockwood is Managing Director International at  Match.com, the world’s biggest online dating site. Jason joined Match.com in March 2007 from online travel brand Travelocity where he was Managing Director of Travelocity Business EMEA.

In its first year, The Drinkaware Trust has reached over three and half million people across the UK, enabling more than 1.45 million consumers, using the trust’s online services, make better informed choices.

Drinkaware’s dynamic and innovative programme culminated at the end of last year with the launch of the UK’s first alcohol education website dedicated to under eighteens, Truthaboutbooze.com, designed and driven by young people for young people.

This was part of a wider strategic drive to promote a responsible drinking culture across the UK to key groups through evidence-based awareness and education.
